  • The UEFA A Diploma is valid for 3 years, during which period the coach must complete a minimum of 15 hours of Continuous Professional Development in order to re-validate the Licence for a further 3-year period. However, the above is not required if the coach enrols on the UEFA Pro Diploma within this period.

This online eLearning award provides a basic and engaging introduction to the organisation of football practices in a fun, safe environment with an emphasis on engaging with the young players of today.
The award provides learners with an opportunity to discover and consider the technical and social support that we, as coaches, can provide to our players, discussing various practical aspects. These include: the importance of area size, practice transitions, progressions and regressions, as well as ensuring the learner takes a closer look at themselves, their role as a coach, and how they currently share the messages they provide players.

This is a mandatory award for all coaches involved in junior football in Wales and will be supported with post-course online resource(s).

A 3 hour practical coaching course following on from your 5 Online Modules, providing an introduction to the key concepts of Futsal. Content will include key techniques, skills and tactics, example coaching practices, an understanding of the Laws of the Game and how Futsal should be played.

A six-hour practical course following on from your 5 Online Modules, providing coaches with an insight into adapting coaching sessions for disabled footballers in a fun and safe environment. The course will assist, supplement and support the coaches existing experiences in this field.

A three-hour course developing an awareness of first aid techniques within a football environment, supporting key basic life support information for coaches and additional post-course electronic course resource(s) provided.

A three-hour interactive on-course workshop to support candidates in developing good practice when working with children and vulnerable adults from across our sport.
The workshop will focus on identifying poor practice and recognising signs, symptoms and forms of abuse and how to react to concerns or disclosures. It will also provide advice on how to identify people and organisations that can help and provide support in such situations.

A range of local workshops that aim to provide support and information for coaches working at grass roots level with junior clubs in Wales. The courses also form part of the FAW revalidation requirements and will be delivered via FAW accredited tutors and/or leading Professional club coaches from across Welsh Football.

The 6-hour FAW Revalidation Conference, the showpiece of our regional foundation calendar is delivered annually within all 6 of our area associations across Wales, provides candidates with an opportunity to gain an insight into the development of our national game and attain further information and practical examples via a guest speaker.
This will count towards your CPD hours to support revalidation of your level 1 and 2 awards, all conferences are Free of Charge to attend.

FAW C Certificate

FAW C Certificate

The FAW C Certificate is delivered utilising a variety of in-person education contacts, online workshops and off course mentoring sessions in regional hubs.
It is designed to educate candidates in the technical, physical, psychological and social requirements of modern football.
It will develop candidates’ ability to plan, prepare, deliver and reflect on coaching sessions for the development of players.
Coaches will complete online modules and coursework throughout the course and be expected to deliver practical sessions, both on and off course. However, there is no formal assessment.

FAW C Certificate (Intensive)

FAW C Certificate

The FAW C Certificate, Intensive course is aimed at Welsh Coaches or Coaches that currently hold FAW Qualifications that are coaching abroad.
Delivered over a period of five contacts and a one off course mentoring session, educating candidates across the key requirements of modern football and developing your ability to plan, prepare, deliver and reflect on coaching sessions as we explore the principles of play and the development of skill acquisition within our players.
Coaches will complete online modules and coursework throughout the course and be expected to deliver practical sessions, both on and off course. However, there is no formal assessment.
All completed applications will be reviewed by the Coach Education Admissions Panel, Places are limited to x24.

This course will support your development in your ability to effectively plan, prepare, deliver and reflect on coaching sessions.

The course pre-requisites are a Valid FAW Goalkeepers Award (or equivalent level 1) along with a valid 1st Aid certificate and Safeguarding certificate.
The FAW Trust reserves the right to refuse any applicant access to the FAW C Certificate, Coaching goalkeepers Programme if the applicant does not meet the required criteria.

Continue on our coach education pathway with the first step onto the UEFA ladder with this six-day course. On the FAW/UEFA B Licence you will develop your game understanding and tactical knowledge via a combination of practical, on and off course theory, e-learning and distance learning. Post contact work is required in addition to an on course FAW/UEFA coaching assessment.

Central to the FAW/UEFA A Licence is developing the coach’s capacity to utilise and apply reflective practice techniques. Coaches are encouraged to develop a personal philosophy that challenges and benefits players at their club. The course is framed within the ‘Welsh Way’ principles, set-out in our National Syllabus, and designed to create coaches who plan and design meaningful practices, in varied contexts.
The course is delivered through flexible teaching methods, over a 12-month period. It consists of three residential teaching blocks, arranged around the competitive season breaks. Support is provided between course times by dedicated FAW mentoring staff, who work on the individual needs of each coach. Coaches will also complete a series of online modules throughout the course.
The UEFA A & Elite Youth A Licence Combined Course will enhance the education and increase the employability of coaches choosing the Coach Education pathway in Wales

The FAW/UEFA Pro Licence course is framed to prepare candidates to work as a modern-day manager or head coach. It is aimed at developing leadership and advanced interpersonal skills, in order to successfully implement a unique management style and philosophy. Pro Licence coaches are expected to develop advanced coaching techniques and the ability to work effectively in professional football.

Performance Analysis

‘The FAW Performance Analysis Conference is a one-day event aimed at analysts of all levels, aspiring analysts or coaches with a special interest in analysis. The content changes each year but covers a range of topics from tactical analysis, application of data, benchmarking and modelling practice to industry news and standards. The conference is delivered by FAW performance analysts and guest analysts/coaches. A range of software and hardware companies working within the industry are also in attendance to showcase their products.
This is a great opportunity to learn and network.

Huddle is the FAW Trust’s Girls Football Programme aimed at 5-12-year olds who are new to football. This training workshop will cover topics such as engaging new girls into football, understanding individual motivations for participation, exploring barriers and challenges that females face in sport and will explore the practical element to Huddle delivery.
