I am looking for clarification for stand alone mode. Once I program the Sushi DMX with the laptop and software, can I put it in stand alone mode and run a program without using the laptop and software?

I am trying to use the Sushi DMX to setup a auto run program to run slower on a Chauvet Wash FX. I am trying to eliminate the need to bring my ADJ Elation SDC12 12 Channel Basic DMX Controller to my shows. I do realize that I will also need a USB power supply to power the Sushi DMX when I use it in stand alone mode. Pros: value,Software,price,Complete Package Cons: Old software A great value for setting up a basic DMX network. Currently they offer 4 different software packages that support the interface. For the majority of users they have covered the basics well.

There are also other 3rd party pieces of software that will support this interface as well. Since most of DMX's functionality is based on software it is a good idea to make sure this interface is supported before buying other software. As far as the interfaces capabilities, it does it's job well. You wont be dissapointed.

This is a cheap, entry-level device that will give you enhanced control over your DMX-controllable lights, but the Daslight1 software is on the buggy side (save frequently), and you will be pretty much on your own in figuring it out since the manuals are sketchy and there's really nothing helpful on YouTube. I was able to get it to do what I needed it to do, but was a tad disappointed that controlling the software via MIDI requires upgrading to version 2 at $19/year.

Definitely worth the money, and useful for the amateur, but serious users will soon find themselves wanting more features and flexibility. Was this review helpful? SOFTWARE: Yes, the included free SW is a bit dated, but it works great! It is designed for entry level operations, and you can buy up to more functional versions. CAVEAT: All DMX controllers are prone to back-current damage from the connected devices, especially lower current controllers like this one (and the ADJ myDMX Buddy). Mine blew after a few shows, within 3 weeks. Searching for DMX controller no function' brought up a virtually identical chip replacement document, which DMXSoft completely supports free replacement for in the first year! I found this informative manufacture's PDF here - SUGGESTION: Get for a 'DMX Line Isolator'. There are a couple of under $50 units, but most are over $300. I found the RioRand unit on Amazon for about $25, but without the power supply. It is a good start!

We are a small community theater and were using a 24 channel dmx dimmer board when we stumbled upon this little jewel. WOW, what a difference in flexibility and ease of use. The learning curve is a little steep at first, but after the initial hurdles with getting the interface registered and finding the specific fixture profiles for the fixtures we have, the operation is fantastic. We decided on the the Stand Alone Basic software and we LOVE it.

Pros: easy to use,Cost Effective Cons: Some limitations I have experience with the ADJ MyDmx and the software is pretty much the exact same layout and functions for a fraction of the price. Even my saved shows from the ADJ software opened up and worked with this. You are limited on some of the advanced features but if you understand basic DMX then you should be fine. This is great for mobile DJs that need a way to control LED par fixtures and basic DMX effect lighting.
